Texas Veterans Land Board Home and Land Loans (VLB Loans)
Low-interest loans that help Texas veterans and military members buy a home with little or no money down, or buy land with a minimum 5 percent down payment on tracts of one acre or more. The separate VLB home improvement loan program stopped taking new applications on April 30, 2026, while the state reviews it.
Who it is for
Texas residents who are veterans with at least 90 days of active duty, current active duty service members, Texas National Guard members, or reservists with at least 20 qualifying years toward retirement. Surviving spouses of veterans who died from a service-connected cause or are listed as missing in action also qualify.
