State grants to nonprofits, veterans posts, and local governments that provide direct services to Texas veterans and their families, such as emergency financial help, housing, mental health counseling, transportation, and legal aid. About 31 million dollars was anticipated for awards in the 2025-2026 grant cycle.

Texas nonprofits, 501(c)(19) veterans posts, Texas chapters of 501(c)(4) veterans service organizations, and units of local government that serve veterans. The fund does not give money directly to individual veterans; veterans get help through the organizations it funds.

- Choose a grant category: General Assistance, Housing for Texas Heroes, Veterans Mental Health, or Veterans Treatment Court.
- Apply as directed in the request for applications before the fall deadline; send questions to rfaquestions@tvc.texas.gov.
Deadline: Applications are accepted once a year in the fall; the 2025-2026 cycle accepted applications from September 12 to November 12, 2024. (Annual cycle)
