Funding State Pennsylvania Department of Military and Veterans Affairs

Military Family Relief Assistance Program (MFRAP)

Grants of up to $5,000, based on documented need, to help service members and their families through a direct and unforeseen financial hardship. The grants do not have to be repaid.

Who it is for

Members of the Pennsylvania National Guard or a reserve component on active duty for 30 or more days, active duty members of the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, or Space Force, Guard or reserve members in good standing for up to three years after qualifying active duty, and some medically discharged former members. Certain close relatives of eligible service members may also qualify.

How to apply

  1. Gather documentation of your military service and the financial hardship you are facing.
  2. Complete the MFRAP application and mail it to DMVA MFRAP, Building 9-26 FTIG, Annville, PA 17003-5002, or fax it to 717-861-9084.
  3. A committee reviews eligibility and need. You can call 717-861-8910 or 1-866-292-7201 with questions.

Deadline: You can apply at any time when a qualifying hardship happens. There is no application deadline, and processing can take as little as 48 hours. (Rolling, apply any time)
