Disabled Veterans Real Estate Tax Exemption

Removes the real estate taxes on the home of a 100 percent disabled wartime veteran who shows financial need. Veterans with income of $114,637 or less (as of January 1, 2025) are presumed to have financial need.

Who it is for

Pennsylvania veterans discharged honorably or under honorable conditions who served during a period of war or earned an operation or service-specific expeditionary medal, have a 100 percent permanent service-connected disability (or total disability based on unemployability, or service-connected blindness, paraplegia, or loss of two or more limbs), and own and live in the home as their main residence.

How you apply: Apply through a partner organization.

Applications go through the County Director of Veterans Affairs in the county where you live.

How to apply

  1. Contact the County Director of Veterans Affairs in the county where you live.
  2. Bring your discharge papers, your VA disability rating letter, and proof of your household income.
  3. The county office prepares the exemption application and sends it to the state for review.
