Before you start

How you apply: Apply directly to the program.

How to apply

  1. Submit an Eligibility Precertification Application with a copy of the veteran's DD-214 (and marriage certificate for spouses) ahead of time if possible. Most applications process in 1 to 2 weeks.
  2. When the time comes, have the funeral director or next of kin contact the cemetery directly to schedule the committal service.
  3. The cemetery tentatively books the service and gives final confirmation once eligibility is verified.

Deadline: There is no deadline. Families can apply for precertification any time before need, or a funeral director can contact the cemetery directly at time of death. (Rolling, apply any time)
