New York State Veterans' Nursing Homes (State Veterans Homes)

New York runs five state veterans homes that provide skilled nursing care and rehabilitation. Eligible veterans have no out-of-pocket cost while in a home, and there is no means test or income limit. The homes are in St. Albans (Queens), Batavia, Oxford, Montrose, and Long Island (Stony Brook).

Who it is for

Veterans who need skilled nursing care, entered active duty from New York or lived in the state for at least one year, have an honorable discharge, and completed at least 30 days of active service. Spouses of eligible veterans may also qualify. Admission priority is based on medical need.
