NSHE Fee Waiver for Purple Heart Recipients and Their Children (NV Purple Heart Fee Waiver)
Waives registration, laboratory, and other mandatory fees at Nevada System of Higher Education schools for veterans who received the Purple Heart, and for their children, after federal education benefits are applied. It does not cover electronic course materials, application fees, or student health insurance.
Who it is for
Veterans who were awarded the Purple Heart, and children of Purple Heart recipients, attending an NSHE institution.
Focus: Veterans with disabilities
Before you start
How you apply: Apply through a partner organization.
Applications go through the Veterans Services office at the NSHE school the student attends, not through the state veterans agency.
How to apply
- Complete the NSHE Purple Heart Fee Waiver form, available through your school's Veterans Services office.
- Provide a copy of your DD-214 showing the Purple Heart award, or your Purple Heart award certificate, to your school's Veterans Services office.
- Make sure a current-year FAFSA is on file with your school, since the waiver only covers fees left over after other aid is applied.
Deadline: Must be submitted each academic year you want the waiver, alongside your FAFSA and enrollment at the NSHE school. (Annual cycle)
