Wartime Veteran Scholarship (NM Wartime Veteran Scholarship)
Pays tuition and required fees (plus books and supplies) at New Mexico's public colleges and universities for eligible wartime veterans, covering undergraduate, master's, or doctoral study up to the highest undergraduate tuition rate.
Who it is for
Honorably discharged veterans who enlisted in New Mexico or have lived in the state for 10 or more years, who earned a qualifying campaign medal (such as the Southwest Asia Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, or Afghanistan Campaign Medal) for service after August 1, 1990, and who have used up their federal GI Bill benefits. This scholarship is for the veteran only, not spouses or children.

How to apply
- Complete DVS Form 14 and gather a certified copy of your DD-214 showing the qualifying campaign medal and an honorable discharge, plus proof you have used up your VA GI Bill benefits.
- Submit the application and all supporting documents together by mail or in person (walk-ins are processed while you wait) to the New Mexico Department of Veterans' Services.
- Applications are approved first come, first served, so apply as early as possible before the deadline.
Deadline: Applications and supporting documents must be submitted together by June 1 each year. (Annual cycle)
