New Jersey War Orphans Tuition Assistance (War Orphans Tuition)

Pays $500 a year for up to four years of college or equivalent training to children of service members who died in the military, died of service-connected disabilities, or are officially listed as missing in action.

Who it is for

Children ages 16 to 21 of service members who died while in the military, died from service-connected disabilities, or are officially listed as missing in action by the Department of Defense. The child must have lived in New Jersey for at least one year before applying, and the parent must have been a New Jersey resident.

How to apply

  1. Contact the Veterans Benefits Bureau at 609-530-6949 or vbb@dva.nj.gov to request the application.
  2. Gather proof of the parent's service and death or MIA status, plus proof the child has lived in New Jersey for at least one year.
  3. Submit the application while the child is between ages 16 and 21.
