Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemeteries (MS Veterans Memorial Cemeteries)

Mississippi operates two state veterans cemeteries, in Newton and Kilmichael, offering casket or cremation burial for veterans and eligible family members, with military funeral honors and a headstone or marker. Under the state's Burial Equity Act the cost is about $950 per person, plus about $115 for a cremation niche or about $445 for a ground burial.

Who it is for

Veterans discharged under conditions other than dishonorable, and their spouses and eligible dependents. As of July 1, 2024, certain National Guard members and Reservists are also eligible under Mississippi's Burial Equity Act. Eligibility generally follows the same rules as VA national cemeteries.

Focus: Surviving spouses and families, National Guard and Reserve
