Wartime Veteran's Survivors Grant Program
A college grant for spouses and children of Missouri veterans killed, injured, or left at least 80 percent disabled by combat since September 11, 2001. It pays tuition up to the University of Missouri-Columbia rate, up to $2,000 per semester for room and board, and up to $500 per semester for books.
Who it is for
Spouses, and children under age 25, of veterans whose death or injury resulted from combat action since September 11, 2001, or from an illness contracted in combat, or who became at least 80 percent disabled from combat injuries. The veteran must have been a Missouri resident when entering military service or at the time of death or injury. The student must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or otherwise lawfully present, and enrolled at least half time as an undergraduate at a participating Missouri public college or university.

How to apply
- Apply online through Missouri's State Financial Aid Portal, or call (800) 473-6757, option 4, for a paper application.
- Provide documentation of the veteran's combat-related death, injury, or disability. The Missouri Veterans Commission verifies veteran eligibility.
- If you are renewing, apply by the May 1 priority deadline each year.
Deadline: Renewal students have a May 1 priority deadline each year. New applicants can apply any time, but the program is limited to 25 recipients per year, so apply early. (Annual cycle)
