Missouri Veterans Treatment Courts
Special court dockets that offer eligible veterans an intensive, supervised treatment program as an alternative path through the justice system when a substance use disorder, mental illness, or trauma is behind the charges. The court team includes VA health care and benefits staff and connects the veteran to treatment, and each participant is paired with a volunteer veteran mentor.
Who it is for
Veterans and service members facing criminal charges, often drug or alcohol related, whose involvement in the justice system is rooted in substance use, a mental health condition, or trauma from service. Veterans treatment court divisions operate in St. Louis city and in a number of counties including Boone, Jackson, Pulaski, and Texas, plus a regional court serving 16 counties in southeastern Missouri.
