Funding State Michigan Department of Military and Veterans Affairs

Michigan Veterans Nonprofit Improvement Grant (VNIG)

Grants of up to $300,000 to nonprofit veterans organizations for one-time capital improvement projects, such as structural repairs, HVAC and electrical upgrades, fire safety systems, and accessibility improvements. The state awarded more than $3.7 million to veteran service organizations in fiscal year 2026.

Who it is for

Nonprofit veterans organizations that are tax exempt under section 501(c)(19) of the federal tax code and own the facility the funding would improve. Priority goes to organizations that can document facility deterioration, liability risk, and a larger veteran service population.
