Children of Veterans Tuition Grant (CVTG)
Undergraduate tuition help for children of Michigan veterans who died in service, died or became totally and permanently disabled from a service-connected illness or injury, or are listed as missing in action. Full-time students can get up to $2,800 per academic year, up to $11,200 total over four academic years.
Who it is for
Natural or adopted children of a qualifying Michigan veteran, older than 16 and younger than 26, who have lived in Michigan for the 12 months before applying, have a high school diploma or equivalent, enroll at least half time as an undergraduate at a participating Michigan college, keep at least a 2.25 GPA, and file the FAFSA each year.

How to apply
- File the current year FAFSA and list your Michigan college choice.
- Complete the one-time CVTG application through the MiSSG Student Portal, or call Michigan Student Aid at 888-447-2687 for help.
- Submit your birth certificate, the veteran's DD-214, and proof of the veteran's service-connected death, total and permanent disability, or MIA status.
Deadline: Applications run by academic year. The 2025-26 application deadline is July 15, 2026, and renewal requires a new FAFSA each year. (Annual cycle)
