Removes real property tax on a veteran's house and yard for veterans the VA has rated 100% service-connected and permanently and totally disabled. The same exemption is also available to some surviving spouses and to some disabled active-duty service members.

Veterans with a VA disability rating of 100% service-connected, permanent, and total; some disabled active-duty service members (based on a disability rating from their branch of service); unremarried surviving spouses of a 100% disabled veteran; and surviving spouses of service members killed in the line of duty.

How to apply
- Get the correct exemption form for your situation (100% Disabled Veteran, Disabled Active-Duty Service Member, Surviving Spouse of Military Casualty, or Surviving Spouse of a 100% Disabled Veteran) from the State Department of Assessments and Taxation.
- Submit the completed form and your VA disability documentation to your local Maryland assessment office.
- Call the Department of Veterans and Military Families service program at 800-446-4926, ext. 6450 if you need help getting your VA disability rating verified for the application.
Deadline: There is no set filing deadline for this exemption. You can apply at any time and do not have to meet the usual September 1 property tax filing deadline. (Rolling, apply any time)
