Massachusetts Veterans Treatment Courts (Veterans Treatment Courts)

Special court sessions for veterans facing criminal charges that connect them with behavioral health treatment, peer mentors, and support services instead of, or alongside, standard prosecution. Participation is voluntary.

Who it is for

Veterans of any branch and any discharge status who are involved in the criminal court system and have mental health, substance use, or related behavioral health needs. Cases can involve misdemeanor or felony charges. A veteran can be referred by a defense lawyer, prosecutor, probation officer, or judge, either at sentencing or while on probation.
