Military Family Assistance Fund (MFA Fund)

Pays up to $10,000 per active-duty order in a 12-month period to help Louisiana veterans and military families cover housing, utilities, vehicle expenses, food, clothing, and some medical costs during financial hardship.

Who it is for

Louisiana veterans with an honorable discharge and current Louisiana National Guard or Reserve members in good standing who are Louisiana residents, plus their immediate family members.

How to apply

  1. Fill out the online application or download the fillable PDF application from the LDVA website.
  2. Gather required documents: DD214, proof of Louisiana residency, income verification, and bills or repair estimates showing the hardship.
  3. Submit the complete application by email to holly.talley@la.gov, by fax to (225) 219-5590, or by mail to LDVA, ATTN: MFA Administrator, PO Box 94095, Baton Rouge, LA 70804-9095.

Deadline: Applications are accepted year-round, but funds are not released right away. The Military Family Assistance Fund Board reviews applications at its regular monthly meeting. (Rolling, apply any time)
