Kentucky Veterans Treatment Court (Veterans Treatment Court)
A voluntary, court-supervised treatment program that gives justice-involved veterans an alternative to jail. It connects them to behavioral health and substance use treatment, benefits, housing, and employment help, and pairs each veteran with a peer mentor from the military community.
Who it is for
Veterans facing criminal charges who struggle with substance use or mental health conditions such as PTSD or traumatic brain injury. Veterans can take part regardless of which county they live in if they meet the court's criteria. Referrals come from judges, prosecutors, defense attorneys, probation or pretrial officers, or VA Veterans Justice Outreach coordinators.
