Kentucky Tuition Waiver for Veterans' Dependents (Kentucky Tuition Waiver)

Waives tuition (not room, board, books, or fees) at Kentucky's public two-year, four-year, and vocational-technical schools for the children, stepchildren, spouses, and surviving spouses of qualifying Kentucky veterans.

Who it is for

Dependents of a Kentucky veteran who died on active duty or from a service-connected disability, is rated 100% service-connected disabled, or is totally disabled from wartime service (or died a Kentucky resident after wartime service). The veteran must currently live in Kentucky. Dependent children must apply before age 26; surviving spouses have no age limit.

How to apply

  1. Apply and get accepted to a Kentucky public two-year, four-year, or vocational-technical school first.
  2. Complete the tuition waiver application form on the KDVA website and submit it.
  3. Allow at least 30 days for processing. You will get the waiver confirmation by email. For questions, contact Tuition Waiver Coordinator Tammy Wray at KDVA.TuitionWaiver@ky.gov or 502-503-7911.

Deadline: No fixed deadline is listed, but apply at least 30 days before tuition is due so the waiver can be processed in time. (Rolling, apply any time)
