Kansas Hero's Scholarship
Waives tuition and required fees for up to 10 semesters of undergraduate study at a Kansas public college, university, or technical school for eligible family members of service members and public safety officers who died or were severely disabled in the line of duty.
Who it is for
Spouses and dependents of a Kansas-connected service member who died while serving, was disabled and unable to continue service, or has a service-connected disability rating of 80% or more; also covers families of deceased or disabled public safety officers, and prisoners of war and their dependents.

How to apply
- Confirm which eligible Kansas public college, university, or technical school you plan to attend.
- Submit the online application through the Kansas Board of Regents student aid portal (sfa.kansasregents.gov) by the deadline for the term you want: July 1 for summer, September 1 for fall, or February 1 for spring, along with required documentation of the qualifying service member's status.
- Funding is limited and awarded first-come, first-served, so apply as soon as you know your school, well before the term deadline.
