Indiana Tuition and Fee Exemption for Children of Disabled Veterans and Purple Heart Recipients (Tuition and Fee Exemption)
Pays tuition and regularly assessed fees for up to 124 credit hours at Indiana state-supported colleges. Students who graduated high school in 2023 or later can instead use up to $5,000 per academic year at Indiana private nonprofit colleges at the undergraduate resident rate.
Who it is for
Children of Indiana veterans with a VA service-connected disability rating from wartime or medal-recognized hazardous service, children of veterans declared missing in action or held as prisoners of war after January 1, 1960, children of Purple Heart recipients, veterans who were themselves awarded the Purple Heart, and former students of the Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home.

- Create an account and submit the application at scholartrack.che.in.gov.
- File the FAFSA every year and list every school where you plan to use the exemption.
- Once approved, contact your school's financial aid office and ask them to apply the exemption to your bill. Award letters post online by August 1.
