Removes real property tax on a home owned and lived in by a veteran who is totally disabled from an injury received on active duty, down to a small minimum tax. Surviving unmarried spouses can keep the exemption.

Veterans in Honolulu County who are totally disabled from an injury or condition connected to their active duty service, for the home they own and live in. Also covers their unmarried surviving spouse.

How to apply
- Fill out Form E-8-10.5 and get a physician's certificate confirming your disability.
- Submit both to the Real Property Assessment Division, either online or in person at the Bethel Street or Kapolei office.
- File Form E-8-10.5A each year afterward to keep the exemption going.
Deadline: File by June 30 for the exemption to apply to your first tax payment of the year, or by December 31 for it to apply to the second payment. (Annual cycle)
