Veterans Treatment Courts

A network of specialty problem-solving courts across Colorado judicial districts that offer an alternative to incarceration for justice-involved veterans and current service members. Participants get tailored treatment for substance use, mental health conditions, PTSD, or traumatic brain injury, close supervision, and a volunteer veteran mentor instead of a standard sentence.

Who it is for

Veterans and active-duty service members facing criminal charges who have substance use, mental health, PTSD, or traumatic brain injury needs. Availability depends on which judicial district a case is in; not every county has one. Some courts, such as the 4th Judicial District's Veterans Trauma Court in El Paso County, accept veterans regardless of discharge status.

Focus: Justice-involved veterans, Veterans with disabilities
