Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado

Colorado's state veterans cemetery in Grand Junction provides burial at no cost to the family, including the gravesite or niche, opening and closing, an upright granite headstone or niche marker, a concrete grave liner, use of the committal shelter, and perpetual care. Eligibility follows the same rules as VA national cemeteries, with an added Colorado residency requirement.

Who it is for

Eligible veterans, plus their spouses, surviving spouses, and dependent children. Burial eligibility is the same as for VA national cemeteries and adds a Colorado residency requirement: a Colorado resident at the time of entry into the Armed Forces, or at the time of death. Families can complete early registration in advance by bringing the veteran's discharge documentation.

Focus: Surviving spouses and families
