Property Tax Exemption for Veterans with a Disability
Cuts property taxes in half on the first $200,000 of value for the primary home of a qualifying disabled veteran or Gold Star spouse. This lowers a veteran's yearly tax bill rather than paying out cash.
Who it is for
Veterans who served at least 24 months on active duty (or were a National Guard member called to active service), were honorably discharged, and have a 100 percent permanent and total service-connected disability rating from the VA. Veterans rated at least 70 percent but paid at the 100 percent rate due to Individual Unemployability also qualify. Gold Star spouses (surviving spouses of service members who died in the line of duty) can qualify as well. The home must be the veteran's primary residence, lived in at least 51 percent of the year.
Focus: Veterans with disabilities, Surviving spouses and families
