Veterans Homes of California (CalVet Veterans Homes)

A network of state-run homes that provide affordable long-term care for aged and disabled California veterans, ranging from independent living to skilled nursing and memory care depending on the home. Eligible spouses and domestic partners can apply alongside the veteran.

Who it is for

California residents who are veterans discharged under conditions other than dishonorable, are 55 or older (or homeless or disabled), and are covered by a medical insurance policy. Nonveteran spouses and domestic partners can apply on a joint application if they have been married or in a registered partnership and living together for a year or longer. Medal of Honor recipients, former prisoners of war, veterans experiencing homelessness, and veterans with a 70 percent or higher service-connected disability rating are given priority.
