Arkansas Veterans Treatment Courts
A voluntary court program for veterans facing criminal charges that come from an untreated mental health or substance use disorder. Instead of the usual process, the veteran gets treatment, supervision, and a veteran mentor over about 14 to 18 months. Arkansas has sixteen of these courts across the state.
Who it is for
Adults facing criminal charges who served in the U.S. Armed Forces or National Guard, have a diagnosed mental health or substance use disorder confirmed by a clinical assessment, and are found to be high-risk and high-need. A team reviews and must approve each person for admission.
