Alabama State Veterans Homes Program (Alabama State Veterans Homes)

Alabama runs five state veterans homes that provide skilled nursing and memory care for aging or chronically disabled veterans, at a cost the program describes as affordable. A private provider operates each home under state ownership and licensing.

Who it is for

Veterans who were honorably discharged with at least 90 continuous days of active duty service, have been an Alabama resident for the immediate past 12 months, meet the clinical criteria for skilled nursing care, and can get physician clearance. Applicants cannot be on a sex offender registry or in active felony fugitive status. The five homes are in Alexander City, Huntsville, Bay Minette, Pell City, and Enterprise.
