Cumberland Veterans Legal Assistance Clinic (C-VETS) (C-VETS Legal Clinic)
A free law school legal clinic that helps veterans and their families with civil matters such as consumer debt, landlord-tenant disputes, contracts, uncontested family law, and wills, plus certain criminal matters like expungements and driver's license issues. Cases are handled by attorneys and supervised law students.
Who it is for
Veterans, spouses, surviving spouses, and dependents who live in one of eight north central Alabama counties (Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Cullman, Etowah, Jefferson, Shelby, and Walker) and for whom hiring an attorney would be an undue hardship. The clinic does not handle military discharge upgrades or VA benefits claims. Apply by calling 205-726-4735 or emailing cvets@samford.edu.
Focus: Surviving spouses and families
